Parades

The MRSA observe and commemorate several occasions and the following details the permanent ones observed.

ANZAC Day 24 April at Ward A full service at the Ward domain at 1400 each 24 April

ANZAC Day 25 April each year with services held at 0600 Picton, 0630 Awatere (Seddon), 0900 Renwick, 0930 Spring Creek, 1000 Havelock and Rai Valley, 1100 Kaikoura and Blenheim.

Korean War 27 July to commemorate signing of the truce in the MRSA Lounge. Service commences at 1100 hours.

Battle of Britain  16 September at Blenheim cenotaph. Service conducted and arranged by the RNZAFA commences at 1100 hours.

Malayan Veterans Day 16 September at Blenheim cenotaph. Service commences at 1100 hours.

Police Remembrance Day 29 September or as decided by the Area Police Commander. 1100 hours in the RSA Lounge of Clubs of Marlborough and  by invitation from the Police Area Commander.

Boer War or South African war 21 October at Tuamarina monument to commemorate the departure of the first contingent from Marlborough. Service commences at 1100 hours.

Armistice Day 11 November at the Blenheim cenotaph to commemorate the signing of the armistice between the Germans and the Allies in WW1. Service commences on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

The Marlborough RSA would like to invite all members, ex and current servicemen/women and the general public to join the memorial services to commemorate ANZAC Day on the 25th April, 2018, at the various locations listed below.

BLENHEIM – 11am, a memorial service will commence at the Cenotaph in Seymour Square.

All ex-servicemen and women, current serving personnel wishing to march please assemble outside the Library, Youth groups marching are to meet in the Noel Leeming carpark, Corner Arthur and Seymour Streets, Blenheim at 10.40am.

In the event of wet weather the service will be held in the Convention Centre.

PICTON – 6am, the Dawn Service will commence at the Picton War Memorial on London Quay.  All ex-servicemen and women, current serving personnel and groups wishing to march please assemble outside BNZ building, corner High Street and Waikawa Road, Picton at 5.30am

 

SEDDON – 6.30am, the Dawn Service will commence at the Seddon War Memorial.  All ex-servicemen and women, current serving personnel and groups wishing to march please assemble outside the Fire Station, Richmond Street, Seddon at 6.00am

RENWICK – 9am, a memorial service will commence at the Renwick War memorial.  All ex-servicemen and women, current serving personnel and groups wishing to march please assemble outside Newman Graphics, High Street, Renwick at 8.45am.

SPRING CREEK – 9.30am, a memorial service will be held in the Spring Creek Hall, Ferry Road, Spring Creek.

LINKWATER – 9.30am, a memorial service will be held in the Linkwater Memorial Hall,

Queen Charlotte Drive, Linkwater.

HAVELOCK – 10am, a memorial service will be held in the Havelock Town Hall on the corner of Main & Inglis Streets, Havelock.  All ex-servicemen and women, current serving personnel and groups wishing to march please assemble at the Bowling Club, 9.45am

RAI VALLEY – 11am, a memorial service will be held at the Rai Valley War Memorial
State Highway 6, Rai Valley.  All ex-servicemen and women, current serving personnel and groups wishing to march please meet at the Emergency Centre, Main Road, Rai Valley at 10.50am

THE SOUNDS SOLDIERS’ MEMORIAL – 11am, a memorial service will be held at the Sounds Soldiers’ Memorial located in the saddle between Portage Bay, Kenepuru Sound and Torea Bay, Queen Charlotte Sound.

KAIKOURA – 6am, a Dawn Service will be held at the Kaikoura War Memorial on the Esplanade, Kaikoura.

 

There will also be a service at WARD – 2pm, Tuesday 24 April at the Ward War Memorial, State Highway 1, Ward

Please note there will be no parking in front of or entry to the Ward War Memorial on State Highway 1 or parking on Ward Street.  Please park in the Ward Showgrounds.
